Next Thursday (7th August) my band and I will be joining the incredible Gàidhlig singer Julie Fowlis and world-renowned Irish singer Mary Black for a concert entitles ‘Les Femmes Gaeliques’ (Gaelic Women) at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient. To say I’m overwhelmed/feel incredibly lucky to share in this concert is a massive understatement.

Julie Fowlis has been a hero of mine for many years and is one of the most well-known names on the Scottish Gaelic scene. Most recently, Julie has sung at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in Glasgow, and is also known world-wide for having sung the theme tune of Disney/Pixar’s ‘Brave’!

Mary Black is a huge name in Ireland and across the world; she’s released albums that have generated platinum sales and performed with the likes of Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris and Van Morrison.

As mish? Weihll, she Manninagh mish as s’mie lhiam goaill arrane ayns Gaelg! Shen eh!

Catch my trio and I also at: Eglise St Louis on Tuesday 5th August at 9.30pm and in the Trophée Loïc Raison at the Espace Bretagne on Friday night where we’ll be playing our hearts out!

I’ll also be performing with the Norwegian-Manx Collaboration on Thursday 7th at 3pm in the Palais de Congrés: we’re just doing the one date as Margit and Erlend are heading back to Norway for more festivals. If you’re in Lorient, don’t miss us!
