Interview and performances on ‘The Verb’ BBC Radio 3

“How do we get INTO Media City?!” puzzled David and I as we floundered our way round Salford Quays in David’s little Ford hatchback. We’d somehow managed to take a wrong turn from our GoogleMaps printed-out directions, and were no longer on the yellow brick road to BBC Radio 3 but instead were driving in circles – down a proverbial creek without a sat-nav-weilding-smartphone between us, and with Ness in convey just as confused. BUT… we eventually got to destination, and what a fabulous time we had! We were performing on ‘The Verb’, presented by poet and wonderful Yorkshireman Ian McMillan on BBC Radio 3, and I was being interviewed about my songs and Manx Gaelic (I’m about to tune into the programme live, but will post the link here shortly).

Also on the programme were the fantastic novelist Maggie Gee, musician and ‘pre-pre historian’ Julian Cope and dramatist Iain Findlay-Macleod from the Isle of Lewis.

Thank you to the team on The Verb – Ian, Cecile, Jessica and Richard in particular – for being so welcoming, so lovely to spend time with, and for feeding us cake!

Here’s a wee live video that was filmed of us in the studio, just after recording:
