Manx-Norwegian musical collaboration – events in Nov 2013
In February 2013, myself and Manx fiddle player Tomas Callister travelled to Western Norway to begin a musical collaboration with traditional singer Margit Myhr and Hardanger fiddler Erlend Apneseth.
Margit and Erlend will travel to the Island at the beginning of November to join forces with myself, Tom and multi-instrumentalist David Kilgallon for the second part of the project, which is funded by the Manx Heritage Foundation/Culture Vannin. Together, we will present a concert of Norwegian, Manx and collaborative material at the Erin Arts Centre at 8pm on Saturday 9th November. On the same day, Margit and Erlend will run free Norwegian song and Hardanger fiddle workshops at the House of Manannan.
We’ll be making some recordings together during the week, to be released in Spring 2014. I’m excited: roll on November!!
